My Honest Take:
I had a blast watching The Meg. It was even greater than I thought it would be. Jason Statham is superb in this film!
Monster movies nowadays are transitioning to be CGI that makes more accelerating and awesome flick to watch. 'The Meg' is no different with Hollywoods' template Jaws obsession with sharks way back the to the 90s. Jason Statham is no newbie when it comes to action films and he knows exactly what he signed up for since he has swimming and diving experience that comes handy for this movie. The rest of the cast is practically redundant, and therefore dispensable because is more Jason Statham and Li Bing Bing. The screenplay is kinda weird and the comedy doesn't resonate either. So when some scenes don't involve the Meg, it's hard to stay focused on a plot.
Perhaps the biggest drawback is the story and script which does not narrow down the 'Meg's' existence and tonality There are points where it takes itself a little too seriously, and others when it aims straight comedy status.
Even if mega-sharks and Statham are enough to lure you to ‘The Meg’, didn't hit much of my our before you dive in.
